A creative, problem solving, social media junkie with a burning desire to help small business owners achieve a sustainable work / life balance through the hands-on implementation of dynamic business solutions.
In early 2019, I did something crazy. I sold my business.
I worked tirelessly to build value in the business through systems and solutions that allowed the business to operate seamlessly in my absence. At the time, I was planning on using all of this “free time” to travel the world.. But as it turned out, there were others that saw the value in my business and they wanted an opportunity to pursue a business and industry they were passionate about.
So guess what I’m doing at this very moment? Fiercely pursuing my dream to travel and explore the world. One country at a time!
The sad part is… It wasn’t always like this! There was a time when I too, was stuck in the “hamster wheel”. I was overwhelmed, overworked (I was working 100 hours every week), unhappy and unhealthy. I had gained a significant amount of weight, I was unable to think clearly, I had alienated friends and family, and it felt like there was always something. Another fire to put out with clients, another employee calling in sick, another incident… It was a vicious and never-ending cycle. I felt like I would take 1 step forward and 3 steps back. It felt like I couldn’t trust my team to help, and I was running myself into the ground to keep the business running.
Everything came to a sudden stop after the second car accident. Over the span of two months in the summer of 2018, I was involved in not one, but two, serious car accidents. That was my wake up call.
We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking that
we used when we created them.
You deserve to have both professional success and personal happiness.
A to-do list addict and lifelong learner with a passion for supporting small businesses and a hatred for cluttered email inboxes.
In 2015, I had a realization: that I could make a career out of helping individuals grow their businesses while giving myself the freedom and flexibility to spend my time with my family on our hobby farm. From that moment on, I made it my mission to find all the ways that I could serve the small business owners in my community.
I started out writing blogs, developing SEO strategies, and creating website content. But my skills and interests quickly grew to include so much more! I worked fiercely to make myself available for the clients I served, and left a comfy office job (with benefits and everything!) to pursue freelancing full time. It wasn’t long before I was looking at my goals in the rearview mirror.
Fortunately, in 2020 I stumbled across Amber and The CTRL Lab… and the rest is now history! The fact is, Amber and I complimented each other so well that I knew we could create magic together. Although we share similar values and our vision completely aligns, I prefer to be quietly working “behind-the-scenes”, whereas Amber is outgoing and thrives working alongside our clients. Our partnership has enabled both of us to work on parts of the business where we each respectively shine.
You may not hear from me as often as Amber, but I promise you that I am here, quietly typing away on my keyboard and keeping the The CTRL Lab machine oiled and running smoothly.
